Tardy, Irwin Return To Steelheads For The 2010-2011 Season

Idaho Steelheads head coach Hardy Sauter announced the team's first two player signings on Friday as defenseman Weston Tardy and forward Geoff Irwin have inked with the ECHL club.

Tardy, 27, played with the Steelheads last season. He scored one goal and handed out 18 assists in 50 games for the National-Conference champions and was voted the team's defenseman of the year by his teammates. He also skated in all fifteen of the team's playoff games, handing out four assists and finishing the postseason with a plus-4 rating.

The 25-year-old Irwin made his professional debut with Idaho late last season after wrapping up his collegiate career. In eight games with the Steelheads, the Victoria, BC, native had two assists. Prior to that, he tallied 84 points (32 goals, 52 assists) in 117 career contests at Minnesota State.

The Steelheads open the regular season on October 15 when they host the Victoria Salmon Kings at Qwest Arena.
