Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD Calif. -The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic, today introduced the first two players under contract for their 2010-11 All-Star season. LW Adam Chorneyko and D Erik Burgdoerfer have agreed to contracts, as announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.

Chorneyko, 21, is entering his first full season in the pro ranks. He played five seasons in the junior ranks in the Western Hockey League, and then one season with the University of Lethbridge. After posting 16 goals and 35 points in 26 games at the University level, he appeared in four games in the Central Hockey League with the Texas Brahmas, posting 2g-1a-3pts, and also skated in seven playoff games, recording 1g-1a-2pts.

"I'm really excited to go to California, that's for sure, and take the next step in my hockey career," says Adam. "I'm looking forward to the great weather, and it's a great city with great fans from what I hear." As for his style of play, he adds, "I like to throw the weight around and score some goals when I get the opportunity, and I like to set up guys as well. I like to work around the net."

Burgdoerfer, 21, made his professional debut with the Condors last season, appearing in three games after wrapping up his senior campaign at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound blueliner skated in three games, all in Las Vegas, and recorded 10 penalty minutes prior to returning to finish his senior year in the classroom. The East Setauket, New York, native had 7g-12a-19pts in 129 games during his college career at RPI.

"It was exciting doing what I've always wanted to do; the three games were just a taste of hopefully what's to come," Erik says, in reference to his brief stint with the team last season. "I wanted to make sure that I got my education first, though, so I had to return to finish up with school. But this has always been my passion and I'm excited."

What Marty says:

"Adam is a dynamic power forward, he'll be a physical force and score some goals. It's a great combination. We saw Erik last year and we like his grit and his tenacity. He's a big defensive defenseman that plays with an edge."
