Crunch Announce Training Staff Hirings

Syracuse, NY (July 20, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today the signings of Rodney Blachford as the club's Equipment Manager and Joe Huff as the team's Athletic Trainer.

Blachford will enter his 17th season as the Crunch's Equipment Manager and first with the Anaheim Ducks organization. Blachford has served as the Crunch's Equipment Manager for all previous 16 seasons of the club's existence, including all 10 years the team was affiliated with Columbus (2000-10) and all six seasons Syracuse was affiliated with Vancouver (1994-00).

Before joining the Vancouver organization, Blachford had stops in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with Oshawa (1987) and the International Hockey League (IHL) with Saginaw (1988-89) and Indianapolis (1989-93). A native of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Blachford graduated from Sheridan College with a degree in Sports Injury Medicine in 1987.

Huff enters his first season as the Crunch's Athletic Trainer after spending the 2008-09 season serving in the same capacity for the Ducks' then AHL affiliate in Iowa. Prior to his time in Iowa, Huff spent the previous three seasons (2005-08) working as the Athletic Trainer for the ECHL's Augusta Lynx.

In addition, Huff spent six years (1999-2005) as the Athletic Trainer for the United States Hockey League's (USHL) Des Moines Buccaneers after beginning his career with a brief stint in the Central Hockey League (CHL) with Macon. A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, Huff graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 1998.

Season tickets for the 2010-11 season are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, or by stopping by the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
