Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters trailed 2-0 in the top of the eighth, but scored one run in each of the next three innings en route to a 3-2 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades. A sellout crowd of 4,686 witnessed the extra-inning battle at Dutchess Stadium.
Hudson Valley scored its only runs on second baseman Robby Price's fifth-inning 2-run double, which brought in Elias Otero (2-for-4) and Brian Bryles. Price, the Renegades' leadoff man, reached base via hit or walk for the seventeenth straight game, the third longest streak in the New York Penn League this season. He currently leads the New York Penn League with 10 doubles this season.
Renegades starting pitcher Wilmer Almonte was brilliant (8IP, 4H, 3 SO, 1BB, 1R/1ER, ND), allowing just one run on four hits in a career-high eight innings. Almonte's outing was the longest by a Hudson Valley pitcher in 2010, eclipsing the previous high of 6.0 innings. Hudson Valley held the Crosscutters to a .183 batting average over the three game series.
The Renegades host the Connecticut Tigers for the next three nights. First pitch tomorrow night will be thrown at 7:05. Righty Jacob Thompson will be making his first professional start tomorrow after three outings out of the bullpen.
Tickets are still available so contact the Renegades box office at 845.838.0094 to get your tickets.
