JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Kyle Roller spoiled Josh Hodges' gem and the Jammers' bats were silenced in a 3-0 loss to the Yankees. The loss ended Jamestown's season-high winning streak at five games.

Hodges, coming off three rough starts, retired the first 15 batters he faced before Yankees shortstop Jose Mojica singled on the first pitch in the top of the sixth. His shutout disappeared an inning later when Roller hit an opposite field home run to make it 1-0 Staten Island.

He allowed a two-out single before Kenneth Toves came on in relief. Toves allowed a two-run home run to Kevin Mahoney on his first pitch of the night, making it 3-0 Yankees. That closed the book on Hodges, who finished with 6.2 innings of work and two runs allowed on three hits. He didn't walk any batters and struck out five.

Staten Island starter Michael O'Brien and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout. O'Brien allowed four hits and two walks in six innings, striking out six batters in the victory. He improved to a league-best 5-0 on the year.

Michael Recchia pitched two shutout innings in relief and Chase Whitley picked up his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

Jamestown now travels to Batavia for three games against the Muckdogs. Saturday's series opener begins at 7:05 pm, with Adam Veres scheduled to start against Nick McCully.
