George Burnett Named Head Coach of Canadian Under 18 Team

Belleville Bulls General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett has been named Head Coach of Canada's National Men's Summer Under 18 Team for the 2010 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament being held August 10-14 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Canada is the two time defending tournament champion and has won the gold medal in five of the past seven years.

Burnett is entering his seventh season as General Manager and Head Coach of the Bulls and is a two time OHL Coach of the Year. He previously led Canada's National Men's Summer Under 18 Team to a gold medal at the 2001 Six Nations Cup in the Czech Republic. Burnett was most recently an Assistant Coach with Canada's National Men's Under 18 Team at the 2010 World Under 18 Championship in Belarus this past April. He has also previously won an OHL Championship with the Guelph Storm and a Calder Cup Championship with the Cape Breton Oilers.

"It is always a tremendous privilege and honour to represent Canada on the international stage," said Burnett. "Being with Team Canada past has always been a tremendous experience and I am anxious to get started with the coaching staff to get our plan in place."

Hockey Canada will announce details for the National Men's Summer Under 18 Team's selection camp in the near future, including the players that will be invited to camp.
