Reno Aces News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas-Reno starter Wes Roemer was dominant in his Triple-A debut, and the Aces narrowly withstood a furious ninth-inning comeback effort by Round Rock, as Reno topped the Express 8-7 Friday night at Dell Diamond.

The Aces took a comfortable 8-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning before Jordan Norberto came on to surrender four runs to pull Round Rock to within a single tally. With the tying run at second and the winning run at first, Daniel Stange came out of the bullpen and immediately issued a walk to Marcos Cabral, loading the bases with two outs in the inning.

The next batter, right fielder Drew Locke, grounded into a game-ending fielder's choice, preserving the first win at Dell Diamond in Aces franchise history.

Roemer (1-0), just transferred to Reno from Double-A, worked seven innings, scattering two runs-one earned-on eight hits. Roemer walked two and punched-out four.

Offensively for Reno, a Carlos Corporan two-run homer helped push a three-run fourth, and a two-run blast by Chris Rahl was part of a three-run Aces fifth. Rahl finished with three hits, falling just a triple shy of the cycle. Four Aces produced a multi-hit effort on the evening.

The loss fell to Express starter Polin Trinidad (2-2), who surrendered eight earned runs on 12 hits over 4.1 innings of work.

The series continues on Saturday night. RHP Bryan Augenstein (2-5, 5.76 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Round Rock will counter with RHP Sergio Perez (0-0, No ERA). First pitch from Dell Diamond in Round Rock is set for 5:05 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM or by visiting www.RenoAces.com.

The Aces return home Friday, May 28, for a 7:05 p.m. contest against Sacramento. That game kicks-off a jam-packed four-game homestand at Aces Ballpark.

Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
