Huntsville Stars News Release

HUNTSVILLE, ALA - The Huntsville Stars lost their second series of the year Saturday night at Joe Davis Stadium in a 4-1 final against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

The Diamond Jaxx (15-14) took an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning off of a double by outfielder Joe Dunigan, followed by two singles from center fielder Kuo Hui Lo and catcher Jose Yepez. They added another run in both the 5th and 6th to make it 4-0.

With dominant pitching from West Tenn starter Mauricio Robles (3-1), the Stars (16-14) only managed to get one hit until the 7th inning when outfielder Caleb Gindl hit a single to second base. He eventually scored off of a double by right fielder Chris Errecart, making it 4-1. Unfortunately the very short-lived rally wouldn't make it a come-from-behind victory for the second straight night as the final remained 4-1.

Fresh off the disabled list, Stars (16-14) starter Donovan Hand (1-1) threw 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He was able to strike out three of the 18 batters he faced and didn't allow a single walk. Reliever Mark Willinsky came in for 1.2 innings of relief and gave up one run on five hits. He walked three and struck out two, while Casey Baron and Brandon Kintzler came in and pitched a perfect 3 innings combined.

The Stars head to Montgomery to start a five-game series against the Biscuits on Monday.
