CHICAGO, IL (April 28, 2010) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club today announced the expansion of its New Orleans affiliate, Chicago Fire Juniors-Louisiana, following a consolidation of New Orleans' three largest youth soccer clubs, Carrollton Soccer Association, Lakeview Soccer Club, and CFJ-Louisiana. Moving forward, the consolidated three club entity will compete underneath the CFJ-Louisiana banner.

Originally launched in May 2009 through Lafreniere Soccer Club, CFJ-Louisiana previously had approximately 1,200 children enrolled throughout the New Orleans area. Following the merger with the Carrollton Soccer Association and Lakeview Soccer Club the number of players under the CFJ-Louisiana umbrella will increase to nearly 3,000, making it the largest Chicago Fire Juniors program in the country.

"This is an exciting time for soccer in the New Orleans area," said CFJ-Louisiana President Bryon Hatrel. "With this merger, we have brought together the three largest clubs in the Greater New Orleans area under one roof for the betterment of player development throughout this part of the state. Our affiliation with the Chicago Fire was the catalyst behind the merger. Being able to bring all of us together as a collective, affiliated with a professional organization is a big step in our continued growth and mission."

"We're pleased to unite together three very strong clubs in Louisiana," said Fire Director of Player Development John Dorn. "With it now becoming the biggest club under the CFJ banner, we'll look to them not only be very competitive but also as a model for our other CFJ affiliates around the country."
