
Edwar Ramirez Now With A's

Edwar Ramirez, who was a standout relief pitcher for Edinburg during parts of 2005 and 2006, is beginning to make a name for himself with his new ball club, the Oakland A's.
Ramirez, 29, who spent most of his playing time with the New York Yankees since 2007, was traded by the Yankees last month, first to the Texas Rangers, who then traded him to the A's.
Ramirez, 6-3 and 165 pounds, is a native of the Dominican Republic.
With the A's so far has been a reliever in five games against Seattle (two games), Los Angeles Angels, Baltimore and, on Tuesday (April 20), against the Yankees. In that game he pitched two innings against his former team and gave up one run. He is carrying a 1.93 ERA. He has a 1-0 record, having taken the win in his first start this year against the Mariners.
With the Edinburg Roadrunners in 2005 and Coyotes part of 2006, he had a 1.07 ERA. He was signed by the Yankees on July 9, 2006.
He also played part of the 2005 season with Pensacola and had a 1.15 ERA.
Ramirez was first signed to a professional contract by the Angels in 2001 and later released, then signed by them again.
He played minor league in the Yankees organization in 2006 and part of 2007 and was named Minor League Reliever of the Year in 2007.
He made his major league debut on July 3, 2007.
