
Dakota Forces Game Three After Win in Austin

Austin, TX - The Austin Toros hosted the Dakota Wizards in front of a sell-out crowd of 2,459 fans for game two of the first round of the NBA D-League Playoffs Saturday night at the Austin Convention Center, with the Wizards gaining the win 106-96.
The Wizards jumped out early in the first quarter, at one point leading by 16. Renaldo Major was five-of-eight from the field in the quarter, and led all with 14 points. Heading in to the second quarter Dakota had an 11 point advantage, 40-29.
Dakota's lead did not last long in the second quarter. The Toros went on a 22-5 run that only allowed one shot from the field during the first seven minutes of the quarter. Squeaky Johnson's three-point jumper with 6:07 left in the first half gave the Toros their first lead of the game, 47-45. The Toros stretched their lead to six, but the Wizards fought back and were able to lead by two at the half, 62-60.
At the half, both teams shot respectively well from the line: Austin (11-12) Dakota (10-10). Major led all with 19 points at the half.
After the break, both teams battled to take the lead. During the third quarter, the score was tied four times and the lead was exchanged six times. Curtis Jerrells had 12 points in the quarter, but it was not enough to obtain the lead at the end of the period. Dakota led 82-81 going in to the fourth quarter.
The Wizard's extended their lead after a 9-0 run in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. The run helped secure the win, as the Toros were only able to come within six points during the quarter.
Major led the Wizards with 23 points and six rebounds. Dakota had five other players score in double figures: Lester Hudson (18), Marcus Dove (15), Maurice Baker (14), Curtis Withers and David Bell both came off the bench and added 12 points.

Three other Toros players scored in double figures: Marcus Williams (23), Alonzo Gee (15), and Eddie Basden (11).
Both teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 CST at the Austin Convention Center. The winning team will advance to round two of the playoffs.
