Chico Outlaws News Release
Chico, CA. March 26, 2010 - The Chico Outlaws today announced the hiring of their new Director of Media Relations and play by play broadcaster. Dan Hawkins will serve as the "Voice of the Outlaws" this summer on www.chicooutlaws.com and will also be responsible for the team's interaction with all media. The team's exact broadcast schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
Hawkins, who currently resides in Oklahoma City, OK, has spent the last six years as a broadcaster for baseball, softball, football, soccer and basketball from high school through professional levels. He spent the 2009 season with the Eugene (OR) Emeralds of the Northwest League (short-season Class A affiliate of the San Diego Padres), working on the Ems pre-game show and doing some play by play in addition to his non-broadcasting duties.
After the conclusion of the '09 baseball season, Dan served as the "Voice of the Boomers", calling high school football and basketball and co-hosting the "Sports Nutz" daily sports talk show on KMZE 92.1 FM in Woodward, OK. He also spent this past January and February in Yuma, AZ at the Arizona Winter League, serving as Director of Media Relations and Play by Play broadcaster, in addition to handling the league's website administration and statistical information.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Outlaws and the Chico community", Hawkins says. "I appreciate the chance to work with Mike (Marshall) and Garry (Templeton), whom I worked with in the AWL this past winter, and look forward to painting the picture every night for Outlaws fans in an informative and entertaining broadcast. I can't wait to get started."
