Stampede's Allen Named USHL Defensive Player Of The Week

Sioux Falls, SD- The United States Hockey League announced on Monday that Stampede defenseman Conor Allen has been named CCM Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Allen recorded a goal and an assist and was a plus-4 as the Stampede earned five of a possible six points over the weekend.

The Chicago, IL native scored the eventual game-winning goal and set up another in a 7-2 win over the U.S. Under-18 National Development Program on Saturday while playing with flu-like symptoms. It marks the second time this season Allen has earned the award.

Allen, a second round draft pick in the 2008 USHL draft, has 14 points (6g, 8a) and is a plus-10 in his first season with the Stampede. He has already committed to the University of Massachusetts for the 2010-11 season.

The Stampede are 27-12-11 on the season and in third place in the West Division. The Herd return to action this weekend when they head to Des Moines for a Friday, Saturday series against the Buccaneers. Game times are 7:05 PM each night.
