Indiana Ice News Release
PILOT THE "RAPIDS": The Ice earned a split in a huge road test in Cedar Rapids, IA over the weekend and with Saturday's win gave the RoughRiders their first loss in regulation since 1/15/10. Cedar Rapids was 14-0-1 in their previous 15 games before the setback.
3/5 at CDR- The RoughRiders scored five third period goals for a 7-2 win although three were empty-netters as the Ice tried to mount a third period comeback...Antti Roppo and David Johnstone posted markers, while Casey DeSmith stopped 34 in net.
3/6 at CDR- The Ice rode the netminding of Cab Morris (35 saves) and a pair of timely goals from Chris Martin and Bryon Paulazzo for the 2-1 victory.
"CLASH OF THE TITANS": An early screening of "Clash of the Titans" is scheduled for Pepsi Coliseum this week as the division leaders of both the USHL's East and West Division (Green Bay, Omaha) invade Indianapolis for the first time this season. Indy has not played Green Bay since a weekend set in Wisconsin back in late October where the Ice went 1-1-0 on the trip. As for the Lancers, Indiana is 1-1-0 against Omaha as they split a pair of road games that took place in November and December. Green Bay is 7-1-2 in their last ten games and 18-5-0 on the road this year, while Omaha is 7-2-1 in their last ten contests and 20-5-3 away from Nebraska this season.
ROLLING "STONE": Forward David Johnstone enters the week on the heels of a six-game point streak that includes four goals and five assists. His six-game stretch is one back of the Ice season-high of seven set previously by Kevin Goumas.
CAB DRIVIN': Goaltender Cab Morris has been "clutch" against some of the USHL's elite teams. In seven games against the likes of Green Bay, Omaha and Cedar Rapids, the first-year netminder is 5-2-0 with a 1.82 GAA and a.939 SV%.
EXTRA, EXTRA: Kevin Goumas has 14 points (4G, 10A) in his last ten games...Anthony Bitetto has 13 points (4G, 9A) in his last ten games and is second among USHL d-men in points (38)...Antti Roppo has recorded 12 points (7G, 5A) in his last ten contests...The Ice is 8-2-0 in their last ten games and has won seven straight at home...Cab Morris is first in the USHL in SV% (.921) and second in GAA (2.25)...Indy is first in the USHL at home on the penalty kill (88.9%) and second overall (85.3%).
