Wildcats Topple Wild

WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild dropped the front end of a 2-game series to the Wichita Falls Wildcats Saturday night, 4-3. The loss ended Wenatchee's 6-game winning streak and was Wichita Falls' second win in six games against the Wild this season.
Mac Olson put Wichita Falls up at the 13:25 mark of the first period when he scored on a breakaway. The Wildcats' lead stood for less than five minutes when Christian Hilbrich (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) tipped in Jeff Jubinville's (Edmonton, AB) wrist shot from the near circle during the Wild's first power play opportunity of the game. Alex McLean (Duluth, Minn.) also assisted on Hilbrich's goal. The Wild took the lead, 2-1, with 55 seconds remaining before the first intermission when defenseman Kyle Brodie (Northglenn, Col.) lit the lamp. Brodie picked up the puck on a Wildcats turnover, entered the offensive zone down the right wing and beat goaltender P.J. Musico with a 5-hole wrist shot. Armand Deswardt (Dallas, Texas) assisted.
Wichita Falls tied the game, 2-2, less than three minutes into the second period on a goal by Chris Leone. The Wildcats went on to take a 3-2 lead at the 7:38 mark of the second frame on Daniel Gentzler's power play marker. Wenatchee forced a 3-3 tie a little over a minute later on Andrew Christ's (Spokane, Wash.) goal that was assisted by Nolan Youngmun (Anchorage, Alaska) and Jordan Young (Cave Creek, Ariz.).
On the power play, Ryan Frost notched the game-winner for the Wildcats on a one-timer from the point with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) took the loss, stopping 14 of the 18 shots he faced. Musico stopped 31 of Wenatchee's 34 shots. Wichita Falls scored two power play goals on six opportunities while the Wild scored one goal on the man-advantage on four chances.
The Wild will try to even its series against the Wildcats tomorrow. Faceoff is slated for 5:05 p.m.
