Wenatchee Wild News Release

WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild won its fourth straight game Thursday night, defeating the Kenai River Brown Bears 10-2 in the first game of a 3-game series at the Town Toyota Center. It was the Wild's seventh consecutive win over the Brown Bears and its highest offensive output of the season.

The Wild scored early and often Thursday night, taking a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Armand Deswardt (Dallas, Texas) put the Wild up 1-0 just 94 seconds into the contest when he backhanded a rebound into the net off of a shot by Chris Rumble (Chesapeake, Va.). Duncan McKellar (Phoenix, Ariz.) also assisted.

The Wild scored two more goals late in the first frame. Working on the power play with less than three minutes remaining before the first intermission, Jake Flynn (Wenatchee, Wash.) collected a rebound off of the end wall and, from the doorstep, knocked in his first goal since Oct. 30. Adam McKenzie (Petaluma, Calif.) and Nolan Youngmun (Anchorage, Alaska) assisted. Jordan Young (Cave Creek, Ariz.) put the Wild up 3-0 with 55 seconds remaining before the first break when he took a pass through the goal crease from Jeff Jubinville (Edmonton, AB) and scored on his backhand.

Kenai River cut Wenatchee's lead to 3-1 early in the first period when Johan Skinnars scored on a wrist shot from inside the far faceoff circle. The Wild came right back, however, with two more goals to take a 5-1 lead into the third period. Jubinville scored on a rebound just under four minutes into the second period. It was his fourth goal in the last two games and his team-leading 24th of the season. Rumble picked up his second assist of the night on Jubinville's goal. Dajon Mingo (Canton, Mich.), who began the season as a member of the Kenai River Brown Bears, increased the Wild lead to 5-1 on a power play goal from the slot 6:28 into the second period. Youngmun and Eric Johnson (Madison, Wis.) assisted.

Wenatchee netted five goals in the third period, two of which were scored by Mingo, who earned his first hat trick of the 2009-10 campaign. Rumble, Mitch Torrel (Monticello, Minn.) and Ryan Timar (Novi, Mich.) scored Wenatchee's other third period goals, while Brad Duwe added Kenai River's second goal of the game.

Wenatchee goaltender Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) won his fifth straight game, upping his season record to 17-2-1. Dainis Vasiljevs suffered the loss, managing to stop 45 of the 55 shots he faced. The Wild went 2-for-4 on the man-advantage while not allowing the Brown Bears a single power play.

The 3-game series between the Wild and Brown Bears will resume Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
