Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The River Bandits are looking to tap into the deep talent pool of the Quad Cities area in search of pregame talent for the 2010 season, including National Anthem performers.

Talents could include anything from singing, dancing and comedy to knife juggling, fire breathing and sword swallowing. Tryouts will be held at Modern Woodmen Park on Saturday, March 6 from 9 a.m. - noon. All participants will perform in front of a panel of celebrity judges and those selected from the group of participants will receive an invitation to perform on the field prior to a selected game at Modern Woodmen Park this summer.

"There are countless talented people and groups in the Quad Cities that would love and deserve to be involved in the game day experience at Modern Woodmen Park," said team owner Dave Heller. "This is their opportunity to be seen by thousands of people and be a part of a first-class show."

The River Bandits will also hold a search for a public address announcer for the 2010 season. Interested people will be requested to read a brief script and will be judged on their voice, delivery and pace. They will also be questioned during a brief interview process. It is encouraged that interested individuals have previous public speaking experience, be available for all 70 home games, are able to think on the fly and are willing to have fun with the role and prompt crowd interaction. This is a paid position and selected participants will be a part of the River Bandits gameday staff.

In addition to the performance tryouts, the stadium will be open to the public for an open house. Guided tours will also be provided allowing fans a behind the scenes look at Modern Woodmen Park. Fans can also select their seats for games during the 2010 season and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Attendees are asked to enter through the main gate and performers can register as they enter in the Mediacom Lounge. Tryouts will be on a first-come, first-serves basis.

Fans can also get the latest River Bandits merchandise. The team store will be open with Bandit Bonanza Specials going on all morning. Great deals will be available on merchandise from the 2009 season as well as new items for 2010.

"This has always been an exciting day for everyone involved as we gear up for the 2010 season," said River Bandits General Manager Kirk Goodman. "It's the first chance for our fans to get back into Modern Woodmen Park before the season and is a much-needed reminder that spring, and River Bandits baseball, is right around the corner."

Ticket representatives will be on hand for fans to purchase group and season ticket packages for the 2010 season.

UP NEXT: Modern Woodmen Park is staying busy as a special events venue over the off-season, providing the perfect atmosphere for parties, corporate functions and more. Meanwhile, the 2010 baseball schedule has been released and fans can already put down a deposit on season ticket and mini-plan packages - including the brand new Super Seven Plan - right now by calling (563) 3-BANDIT.
