Dayton Gems Beat The Fort Wayne Komets 2-1

The Gems traveled to Allen County War Memorial Coliseum to take on the Fort Wayne Komets tonight. The first period began the a defensive battle with both teams holding their own. Then with less than 4 minutes left Fort Wayne capitalized on a powerplay and took the lead. In the 2nd the back and forth continued. Dayton had 1 more shot on goal than Fort Wayne but neither team found their way to the net. The 3rd brought more defense til the Gems scored. With more than half of the period over it was Jon Ornelas with the help of Cody Hamilton. Less than 2 minutes later Dayton rookie Mike Vaskivuo put the Gems into the lead. In an exciting action packed finish the Gems were the winners. 2 - 1. The standings for Dayton are now 18/22/3/1.

The next home game will be this Friday, February 5th at 730pm when the Gems meet the Flint Generals. It's Guns and Hoses Night. Firefighters, Police and EMTs get a buy 1 ticket get 1 ticket free discount and another Frothy Friday with $2 Drafts.

Lefty McFadden tribute night is Saturday, February 6th when the Gems take on the Port Huron Icehawks at 7:30pm. Local legends will be in attendance including: Tom Hamlin, Marc Katz and Bucky Albers.

All adult tickets only $10. Student and Childrens tickets $7. Groups are welcome and parking is free.

Each Monday evening join the Gems at Fox and Hound in Beavercreek at 9pm as they become Miami Valley Idol judges .

This Thursday have lunch with the players at Brixx downtown. See you at noon!.
