Calgary, AB - Ryan Howse and the Chilliwack Bruins take on Tyler Maxwell and the Everett Silvertips for a Western Conference match-up in WHL action on Friday night.

Friday's game between the Bruins and the Silvertips can be seen live throughout western Canada on SHAW and SHAW Direct Channel 299 and in the U.S. Pacific Northwest on FSN (7:00pm PST).

The Bruins suffered a 5-0 shutout loss in Kennewick, WA, to the Tri-City Americans last Sunday, wrapping up a three-game weekend U.S. Division road trip with a 1-2 record, and currently sit one point up on Kamloops for sixth place in the Western Conference. The Bruins are 11-10-0-3 at home this season. Howse leads all WHL players with 34 goals this season.

The Silvertips are coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the Spokane Chiefs last Sunday to stretch their winning streak to six games, and currently sit seven points ahead of the Bruins in fifth place in the Western Conference. The 'Tips have won four straight and five of their last six games on the road. Maxwell ranks second on the 'Tips with 25 goals this season, but has gone five games without finding the back of the net.

It's the second of four meetings this season between the 'Tips and Bruins. The Silvertips edged the Bruins 4-3 in a shootout in Chilliwack on December 19th in the first encounter. The teams will meet up again in Everett on Saturday.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Matt Calvert and the Brandon Wheat Kings (28-15-0-3) welcome Brendan Rowinski and the Moose Jaw Warriors (23-15-2-2) for an East Division meeting.

The Wheat Kings fell 4-2 in Regina to the Pats on Wednesday night for their third setback in a row, but remain in third place in the Eastern Conference. Calvert leads the Wheat Kings in scoring with 28 goals and 58 points this season.

The Warriors are coming off Tuesday's 2-0 shutout over the visiting Wheat Kings for their sixth victory in their last seven games, and currently sit tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Rowinski had a four-game goal streak snapped after being held off the score sheet on Tuesday.

In Kamloops, B.C., Austin Madaisky and the Kamloops Blazers (20-20-2-3) host Andrej Kudrna and the Red Deer Rebels (23-17-0-4) on Friday.

The Blazers stretched their winning streak to three games with a 5-4 victory over the visiting Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday night. Madaisky, who was acquired from Calgary at Sunday's WHL trade deadling, notched a goal and an assist in his Blazers debut on Wednesday and was also named to the Home Hardware CHL / NHL Top Prospects roster.

The Rebels are coming off a 2-1 victory in Prince George over the Cougars on Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing skid, and currently share sixth place in the Eastern Conference with Moose Jaw. Kudrna scored his team-leading 20th goal of the season in Wednesday's win in P.G.

In Kelowna, B.C., Shane McColgan and the Kelowna Rockets (19-24-2-0) welcome Ryan Johansen and the Portland Winterhawks (26-17-1-1).

The Rockets have been off since dropping both games of a home-and-home series versus Kamloops last weekend, and have lost four straight, overall. The Rockets are 11-10-1-0 on home ice this season.

The Winterhawks are coming off a 5-4 loss in Kamloops on Wednesday for their third setback in their last four outings, and have dropped into a tie with Spokane for third place in the Western Conference. Johansen has been held pointless over his last three games after having scored in each of the four previous games.

In Lethbridge, AB, Mitch Maxwell and the Lethbridge Hurricanes (15-23-3-2) take on Levko Koper and the Spokane Chiefs (25-15-3-1) on Friday.

The Hurricanes edged the Broncos 2-1 in Swift Current on Wednesday for their second win in a row, and are 5-2-0-1 in their last eight games. The 'Canes have allowed only seven goals over the course of their last five victories.

The Chiefs doubled up the Tigers 4-2 in Medicine Hat on Wednesday night for their second victory in their last three games, and currently share third place in the Western Conference with Portland. Koper scored his 19th goal of the season in Wednesday's win over the tigers, tying him for second on the team in goals.

In Prince Albert, SK, Ryan Harrison and the Prince Albert Raiders (23-20-1-2) host Emerson Etem and the Medicine Hat Tigers (26-14-3-5) on Friday.

The Raiders blasted the visiting Calgary Hitmen 8-1 on Tuesday night for their third straight victory, despite allowing 51 shots on net in the contest. The Raiders lead all Eastern Conference teams with 18 wins on home ice this season.

The Tigers dropped a 4-2 decision to the visiting Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday for their fifth defeat in their last eight outings, but remain in first place in the Central Division standings. Etem scored twice in Wednesday's loss to the Chiefs, and now leads all WHL rookies with 31 goals this season.

In Prince George, B.C., Alex Rodgers and the Prince George Cougars (9-33-1-1) host Craig Cunningham and the Vancouver Giants (27-16-1-2) for the first of two weekend meetings between the B.C. Division rivals.

The Cougars fell 2-1 to the visiting Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday night for their fifth consecutive setback. Rodgers (11g-17a) leads the Cougars in scoring with 28 points this season.

The Giants have been off since dropping games in Calgary and Medicine Hat on Friday and Saturday, respectively, but remain comfortably in first place in the B.C. Division. The Giants are playing their fifth game of a 10-game road trip.

In Regina, SK, Jordan Weal and the Regina Pats (19-24-3-0) host Garry Nunn and the Edmonton Oil Kings (10-24-4-7).

The Pats earned their second win in a row with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday, but currently sit eight points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Weal has tallied three goals and seven points over his last two outings.

The Oil Kings dropped a 4-2 decision to the visiting Kootenay Ice on Wednesday afternoon for their eighth defeat in a row. Nunn was held pointless in his debut with the Oil Kings on Wednesday.

In Swift Current, SK, Justin Dowling and the Swift Current Broncos (23-20-0-2) host Derek Hulak and the Saskatoon Blades (31-9-1-3).

The Broncos suffered their second straight setback with a 2-1 loss to the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night, and currently sit one point behind Prince Albert for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The Broncos are 16-6-0-0 at home this season.

The Blades defeated the visiting Calgary Hitmen 4-1 on Wednesday for their second straight victory, and currently sit one point up on Tri-Cities for first place, overall, in the WHL standings. Hulak has a goal and an assist in each of his last two games.

In other WHL action on Friday, Brendan Shinnimin and the Tri-City Americans (32-11-0-1) welcome Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds (14-23-3-4) for the second of back-to-back meetings between the U.S. Division foes.

The Americans edged the visiting T-birds 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday night for their second straight victory, and now hold a solid eight-point lead for first place in the Western Conference. Shinnimin scored once and assisted on Brooks Macek's overtime winner on Wednesday.

The Thunderbirds suffered their seventh loss in their last eight games with Wednesday's overtime setback to the Ams. Pickard has started all but one of the T-Birds' last 27 games.
