Drive To Host Intern Fair And Seasonal Job Fair

Greenville, SC - The warm Summer nights. The crack of the bat and over 5,000 fans cheering in unison. The smell of the freshly mowed field and hot dogs on the grill! There's nothing quite like being at Fluor Field, especially for the enthusiastic individuals who make up the Greenville Drive's special team of college interns and seasonal employees. And with the 2010 season quickly approaching, the Drive have announced that they will be hosting two job fairs - an internship fair and a seasonal job fair.

Drive General Manager, Mike deMaine, noted, "We had a great 2009 season and much of our success was the result of the outstanding game day staff and college interns that worked at Fluor Field. We are excited to have many of these members of the Drive family coming back for the 2010 season, and we are also looking to find new professionals who are committed to make our organization even better."

On Saturday, January 16th, the Drive will be looking for career-minded, enthusiastic college students who want be a part of the Drive's well recognized internship program for the 2010 season. The Drive internship program provides qualified individuals with the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to contribute to the unforgettable experience Drive fans enjoy at Fluor Field. The internship fair will take place at Fluor Field from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Internship opportunities exist during both the Spring (January - May) and Summer (April - September) periods, with experience provided across many key functions, including sales and sales administration, food and beverage operations, event and hospitality planning and execution, entertainment production and presentation, community and media relations, box office operations and sales, retail merchandise operations, stadium operations, sponsorship services, and administration. A willingness to work hard in a fun environment and a commitment to top quality customer service are the main requirements for the successful candidates.

Interested candidates are encouraged to pre-register for the internship fair by visiting GreenvilleDrive.com and submit a cover letter and resume. On the day of the internship fair, all candidates should come to the Drive Front Office at Markley and Field Street, while bringing several copies of their cover letter and resume, as well as any additional items that will set them apart from their peers and demonstrate their desire to be part of the Drive team.

"As a member of the Drive staff, college students will have the opportunity to be part of a highly competitive program designed to expose all interns to every aspect of operating a professional baseball team," commented deMaine. "The Drive is poised to have the most exciting season of baseball the Upstate has ever seen.

2010 will mark the Drive's 5th anniversary at Fluor Field and we will be celebrating this significant event all season long by highlighting our fans, Drive alumni, and accomplishments.

In addition, we're unveiling an event that could become college baseball's premier event in the Reedy River Rivalry between Clemson and the University of South Carolina, and hosting the 2010 South Atlantic League All-Star Game."

Four days later, on Wednesday, January 20th, the Drive will have opportunities for new personnel to be part of the 2010 game day staff as they host their Drive's annual job fair will be held at the BI-LO Center from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The Drive will be interviewing candidates for a variety of game day staff positions, including ushers, ticket sellers, ticket takers, guest relations personnel, merchandise store attendants, grounds crew, bat boys, promotions and entertainment team, food service attendants, Green Monster scoreboard operators, and suite hosts and hostesses. Those candidates who are upbeat, committed to working hard, and committed to customer service wishing to apply for any of these jobs should enter the BI-LO Center through the main entrance and parking lot on Church Street.

Interested applicants must be 16 years of age or older, with the exception of bat boys who must be 14 years of age or older, and must be available to work nights, weekends and holiday games during the Drive's 2010 70-game home schedule, as well as other events. Applicants must bring their Social Security Card and one form of identification (current driver's license, birth certificate or passport) to complete their application and be considered for a position at the job fair.
