The eyes of the sporting world will be focused on Cape Town, South Africa, this Friday, December. 4, when FIFA will host the draw for next summer's World Cup... so there's a chance your boss might not notice if your eyes happen to be watching the big event at Real Salt Lake's 2010 World Cup Draw Watch Party at Rio Tinto Stadium's Club Real, presented by Budweiser. The festivities on the second floor of RSL's Sandy home will take place from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. MT, and the first 150 fans through the door will get the chance to watch the 32-team field shake out into the tournament's eight groups and win RSL and adidas merchandise - including one of the 2010 World Cup Match Balls that will be unveiled on Friday. Sixth Annual Zions Bank Top of the Mountains Bowl Kicks off Saturday at Noon MT

The excitement at Rio Tinto Stadium continues on Saturday, Dec. 5, when the state-of-the-art venue in Sandy will play host to the Sixth Annual Zions Bank Top of the Mountains Bowl. This year's tilt will be another top-ten Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) matchup, featuring the host and #8-ranked Snow College Badgers (9-2) taking on the #3-ranked and undefeated Grand Rapids (MI) Community College Raiders (10-0), with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m. noon MT. DF Tony Beltran & MF Alex Nimo Help Generation adidas Squad Begin 11-Day South Africa Trip with Win

Fresh off their MLS Cup championship campaign, a pair of Real Salt Lake's youngest roster members, DF Tony Beltran and MF Alex Nimo, will make a few more lasting memories this calendar year, as they are part of the 17-man Generation adidas squad representing Major League Soccer during an 11-day trip to South Africa. The squad departed the States last Friday for a week-and-a-half tour of next summer's FIFA World Cup host country that will include a trio of friendly matches - the first of which the Generation adidas squad took 2-0 on Monday over the Orlando Pirates reserve squad. Beltran started and played the full 90 minutes in the match in Johannesburg, while Nimo entered off the bench to play the final 28 minutes of the contest, which featured goals by D.C. United FW Chris Pontius (24') and Chicago Fire FW Patrick Nyarko (83').

The Generation adidas squad, led by Columbus Crew head coach Robert Warzycha and his staff, plans to take on a yet-to-be-determined opponent this Thursday, Dec. 3, before closing the friendly portion of the trip with a match against the AJAX Cape Town reserves on Sunday, Dec. 6. Outside the exhibition contests, the group will also enjoy sightseeing and take part in several appearances while in South Africa, including visits to Soweto "Nelson Mandela House," the Apartheid Museum, the World Cup 2010 Draw and the opening of the first FIFA Football for Hope Centre. Champs Keeping Busy by Trading GK Chris Seitz to Philadelphia Union for Allocation Money, Acquiring FW Abe Thompson in Waiver Draft

There's been no time to rest for the Real Salt Lake Technical Staff, which has finalized a pair of player transactions within a week of capturing the squad's first MLS Cup crown. The dealing concluded with Monday's trading of GK Chris Seitz to the Philadelphia Union, with RSL receiving allocation money in return for the third overall selection in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. The 22-year-old Seitz made seven regular season appearances for Zion's Lions in his three campaigns on the Wasatch Front, compiling a 1-4-2 record and 1.86 goals against average in 630 minutes between the posts (1-1-2 record and 1.25 GAA in 2009).

That trade followed on the heels of last Wednesday's MLS Waiver Draft, during which RSL snagged FW Abe Thompson following his release from the Houston Dynamo. The five-year MLS veteran has notched 15 goals and 12 assists in his 89 regular season appearances (40 starts), with his best season coming in 2007, when he tallied four assists and registered career-highs with five goals; 15 starts; 24 appearances; and 1,127 minutes played as a member of FC Dallas.
