Double DefensemenFriday in Chicago, two different Waterloo Black Hawks defensemen scored in the same game for the first time this season. Nick Ebert and Dan Sova each found the net in the opening minutes of the first period. In the third, Blake Thompson was also credited with a goal, although that score was later assigned to Alex Jensen. The last time a pair of Black Hawks blue-liners had goals in the same game was January 24th. That night, Patrick Wey scored twice and George Hughes added a tally in a 6-3 Black Hawk victory against the Sioux City Musketeers.
Separate Streaks
The Hawks currently bear the USHL's longest road losing streak and the league's second-longest home winning streak. Waterloo has dropped seven straight road games since a season-opening win in Green Bay. Meanwhile, with four consecutive home wins, the Black Hawks have lined up a string of victories on home ice only exceeded by the Omaha Lancers, whom the Hawks visit Wednesday.
Cataloging Jimmy Siers
Jimmy Siers seems to be enjoying his new surroundings. Since the trade that brought him to Waterloo from Lincoln early this month, Siers has two goals and an assist in six games. During 60 career games with the Stars he notched ten points. Siers is also +2 during his time as a Black Hawk.
Second (or Third) Time Around
Waterloo looks to turn the tables this week on three opponents they have already seen in 2009-2010. The Black Hawks are a combined 0-5-0 against the Omaha Lancers, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and Indiana Ice. Omaha and Indiana have already been on the Hawks' schedule twice, while Waterloo opened the home slate with a loss to Cedar Rapids on October 10th.
