Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, Pa - The Altoona Curve are pleased to announce that Blair County Ballpark will be open to the public for the team's annual open house event on Saturday, November 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday's event will benefit two different area charities: the St. Vincent DePaul Society's Food for Families Soup Kitchen and the United States Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.
Admission for fans attending the open house is a canned or boxed food item or a new, unwrapped toy.
The day will consist of a bevy of fun for the family, as Santa Claus will make an appearance and meet with kids along with Curve mascots Steamer and Diesel Dawg. Kids can get their face painted, make holiday crafts, and sign up for the 2010 Curve Kids' Club.
An all-access tour will provide fans a chance to get behind the scenes and see parts of one of the most famous and beautiful parks in minor league baseball that aren't normally accessible during the season. The dugouts, press box, radio booth, in-game production booth, suites, home and visiting clubhouses (locker rooms), and indoor batting cages are included in the trip around the ballpark.
In addition to guided tours, fans will have the opportunity to receive terrific value on 2010 full or partial season ticket plans. The Altoona Curve Stockyard store will also be open for fans to purchase that perfect holiday gift as a brand new line of Curve merchandise has just been put on the shelf. All fans attending the open house will receive a 10% discount coupon which can be redeemed on Curve merchandise until November 30 at either the Stockyard store at the ballpark or the Altoona Curve holiday store at the Logan Valley Mall.
Light refreshments at the start of the event will be provided by Dunkin Donuts and Roaring Spring Water. Attendees can also take home one quart of wedding soup and a loaf of Italian bread for just a five dollar donation, with all proceeds benefiting the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food for Families Soup Kitchen. Soup will be donated by the Casino at Lakemont Park and the bread will be provided courtesy of Pacifico's.
