Thunder Drops Mallards

November 4, 2009 - International Hockey League (IHL) Bloomington PrairieThunder

Jamie Carroll scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Bloomington PrairieThunder to its fourth straight International Hockey League victory with a 6-3 decision over Quad City before 2,033 people Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The triumph was the fourth straight for the PrairieThunder, and fourth in as many games at home, to push its record to a franchise best-start 5-2 and into sole possession of first place with 10 points. Bloomington returns to action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Port Huron.

Quad City actually got on the scoreboard first when Terry Harrison scored with 15:56 remaining in the first period off an assist by Mike Zbriger. The PrairieThunder roared back to take a 2-1 lead after one period on goals by Carroll and Russ Smith on the power play. Brian Boulay had the assist on Carroll's goal, while Carroll had the assist on the Smith effort.

Jesse Dudas extened the Bloomington lead to 3-1 in the second period with 14:41 remaining off assists by Jason Lepine and Brett Holmberg.

Matt McIlvane scored his first professional goal with 15:39 left in the game off assists by Holmberg and Robin Gomez for a 4-1 PrairieThunder advantage. Quad City cut the deficit in half 27 seconds later on Patrick Levesque's goal on an assist by Harrison.

Jon Booras scored a power play goal for the PrairieThunder with 12:52 left on assists by Dudas and Carroll. Obi Aduba of Quad City scored with 4:47 remaining on assists by Darren McMillan and Chris Lipsett. The PrairieThunder's final goal came on an empty net effort by Bill Bagron with 3:41 to go.

The loss dropped the Quad City record to 1-4. Bloomington owned a 34-31 advantage in shots and goalie Paulo Colaiacovo posted his fourth straight victory by pushing aside 28. Sebastien Laplante suffered the loss.

Bloomington was successful on 1 of 5 power plays, while Quad City scored twice on seven power plays.
