Walleye Notes- Shootout! Thursday night marked the first time this season that the Walleye participated in a shootout. Toledo was outscored 4-2 by the Reading Royals in the shootout. Mike Hedden and Maxime Tanguay each scored for Toledo.
- Penalty Shot! Walleye forward Mike Hedden attempted the first Toledo penalty shot of the season at 8:48 of the third period Thursday night in Reading. Mike was successful on his attempt.
- Power Back in the Power Play! Toledo's power play returned to greatness this weekend aided by a 5 for 8 performance Saturday night in Kalamazoo. With the 2 for 8 on Thursday in Reading, the Walleye finished the weekend 7 for 16 on the power play (43.8%). For the season, Toledo is Toledo is the number one team in the ECHL on the Power Play converting on 30.4% (14 for 46).
- Let's Do Something None Have Yet! The power play struck five times against Kalamazoo Saturday. Going into that game, the wings penalty kill was second in the ECHL and had only allowed 3 power play goals in six total games.
- Two in One! Saturday night in Kalamazoo, Maxime Tanguay and Dominic Osman each hit the score sheet twice. For Tanguay it was goals three and four on the season, and for Osman it was goals two and three. Osman's second goal was a shorthanded goal.
- The Captain Strikes! Down 1-0 Saturday night captain Ryan Stokes picked up a rebound and wristed it into the back of the net for his first goal of the year. He added 2 assists to his point total that night also.
- Shots, Shots, and more Shots! Toledo added 74 more shots to their season total over the two games this past weekend. That gives Toledo 228 shots for in seven games for an average of 32.57 per game.
- Three out of Four! Toledo collected three of a possible four points over the week.
- Fan-tastic! For the season, 32.062 fans have passed through the turnstiles at the new Lucas County Arena for an average of 6,412. The Walleye currently lead the ECHL in average attendance for the season of teams that have hosted multiple games - Charlotte had 6,566 for their home opener.
On the Hook
- Gametime! Wednesday morning, Toledo will play host to the Kalamazoo Wings for "Kids Day". A special start time of 10:30am is on tap for Wednesday's game. Toledo is 1-0-0 against the Wings for the season. On Friday, Toledo will hit the road heading to Cincinnati for the first time this season. Toledo is 24-19-4 all-time against the Cyclones. The very next night Toledo will complete a home and home series with the Cyclones, when Cincinnati appears at the Lucas County Arena. Following that game, fans will enjoy a special autograph session with the Walleye.
