Generals Ink Former NBA PlayerOctober 30, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) - Dallas Generals Press Release
The two teams believe the duo, Rider and Miller, will make an impact in the ABA while it is expected to generate an interesting show for fans in the DFW area. The proximity of the teams will surely stir up some friendly competition between the two cities as a strong case can be argued to expect either team to come out on top of the six games they are scheduled to play.
If one were to break down the strengths of each team and their players' effects, Fort Worth may have the edge as Rider's list of experience includes 67 of the Lakers' 82 games during their repeat Championship season in early 2000. Yet, the Dallas Generals have an additional member on their roster, besides the former NBA player, that may prove to be the key difference - Taurian "Mr. 720" Fontenette, also known as "The Air Up There."
Documented through many highlights on YouTube, Fortenette is a household name and legend in the world of Street Ball. Mr. 720 may not have the NBA experience of Rider and Miller, however, it could be fair to say that in combination with Miller's experience, Fontenette's more than impressive ball handling abilities and sheer athleticism could serve to be too much for Rider and the North Texas Fresh to handle.
The teams will meet for the first time during the Dallas Generals have already dubbed the event: "Metroplex Best: The Cross-Town Rivalry Series." The game will be on Saturday, December 5th at 7pm at the Fair Park Coliseum. Ticket prices range from $5-$15 and will be available through the Dallas Generals website, www.dallasgenerals.com which will go on-line on November 5th. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
