HAMILTON, N.Y. - Chase Balisy (Fullerton, Calif.), Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, Nev.), Bill Arnold (Needham, Mass.) and Nick Shore (Denver, Colo.) each scored and Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.) stopped 29-of-30 shots as the U.S. National Under-18 Team downed Colgate University, 4-1, here today at Starr Rink. With the win, Team USA completed a three-game sweep of New York schools, Utica College (10-1), No. 6 Cornell University (3-2) and Colgate University, this weekend.
Balisy gave Team USA a 1-0 lead 5:26 into the contest when he poked home Adam Clendening's (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) rebound from the doorstep for a power-play tally. With 4:01 to play in the period, Stephen Johns' (Wampum, Pa.) shot caromed off the end boards to Zucker who slammed the puck into the open net to make it 2-0.
Just 2:11 into the second stanza, Brandon Saad (Gibsonia, Pa.) stripped a Colgate defenseman of the puck and feathered a pass to Arnold who snapped the puck past goaltender Charles Long from inside the left faceoff circle. Shore gave Team USA a four-goal advantage just 1:26 later after he tapped home a rebound off of Jon Merill's (Brighton, Mich.) right-point shot.
In the final frame, Campbell stopped all but one of the 12 shots he faced. David McIntyre tallied Colgate's lone goal at the 11:08 mark to account for the 4-1 final.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team will return to home ice to meet United States Hockey League West Division-leader Omaha Lancers at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube Friday (Oct. 30) at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
