San Angelo, Texas--- The San Angelo Colts plan to return 2009 MVP Bryan Frichter, and former Rookie of the year Ronnie Gaines. Rookies Butch Ballez, Hunter Jobes, and Travis Calloway are also in skipper Doc Edwards sites for the 2010 campaign.Bryan Frichter, who converted to the infield in 2009, led the league with a .385 batting average, adding 49 RBI's and eight homeruns. Frichter's accolades included the United League Most Valuable Player honor, and a place on Baseball America's All Independent League Team. Outfielder Ronnie Gaines, one of only two Colts players to play in all 80 regular season games, knocked in 46 runs, tallied a .283 batting average, and was second on the team with nine homeruns.
Rookie Shortstop Butch Ballez proved to be a valuable asset to the 2009 team, helping the Colts assure strength up the middle, and production at the plate hitting.277, collecting four round trippers, and 30 RBI's. Another newcomer to professional baseball was Centerfielder Hunter Jobes. The lefty batted .289, with 31 RBI's, and a league best 20 doubles. Backstop Travis Calloway joined the team midway through the season and was an impact immediately. Besides his prowess behind home plate, Calloway contributed a .270 batting average, with a homer and three doubles.
