ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that the team's 2009-10 marketing efforts will be focused around the slogan, "Our Town, Your Team," which will be incorporated into television and radio commercials, print ads, fan giveaways, www.albanyriverrats.com content and more.

"As we prepare for our seventeenth season in Albany," said President/CEO S. Garen Szablewski, "the organization wanted to highlight the team's relationship with the Capital Region and its fervent Rat-backers. I'm positive that the fans will really enjoy becoming a part of this year's campaign."

The resumption of the Northway Rivalry was the spark for the organization's 2009-10 slogan, which will focus on area fans and their support of the region's current longest running professional sports team. The team's advertising creative will use area hockey fans and local hot spots to showcase how the River Rats have become a part of the local fabric since first hitting the ice back in October 1993.

The River Rats will once again incorporate fan interaction with this season's marketing theme. Rat-backers are being asked to send-in pictures and videos of themselves showcasing their River Rats fandom at various Capital Region landmarks. The best of the best may even be used for a Television commercial, print advertisements or viral videos.

Not only will fans be used as centerpiece for the creative of the campaign, but the River Rats also announced a brand new Hall of Fame that will see its first class inducted during the 2009-10 season. The team will honor the players, coaches, moments and, of course, the fans with this new interactive exhibit viewable from the Atrium of the Times Union Center later this Fall.

Plus, the players will showcase the team's new slogan on all practice gear worn throughout the 2009-10 American Hockey League Season. Any fan who wants to be the first to have the new t-shirt can log on to www.albanyriverrats.com.
