
Checkers Agree to Terms With Mike Taylor

CHARLOTTE, NC-General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward, Mike Taylor for the second season.
Taylor, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, is a native of Maple Grove, Minnesota. Taylor spent four seasons playing at Harvard University, and in 125 games he scored 29 goals and 41 assists totaling 70 points. At the end of the 2007-08 season, He began his professional career playing in 8 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey league tallying two goals and two assists for a total of four points. Taylor joined the Checkers for the 2008-09 season, and in 39 regular season games, he amassed 10 goals and 15 assists totaling 25 points with 24 penalty minutes. During the 2008-09 season, Taylor also played in two games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.
Wilkinson states, "Mike is an intelligent forward who will be counted on to lead the team in all areas on the ice. I'm looking forward to having him join the club."
The Checkers are getting ready for their 17th season of play as a member of the ECHL. In the team's 16-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 12 times including five consecutive playoff appearances to date.
