
Knights win pitchers' duel

FORT MILL, S.C. - July 20, 2009 - Using four pitchers from their bullpen, the Charlotte Knights held Lehigh Valley to six hits and more importantly, scoreless, in a 1-0 victory.
The game remained deadlocked at 0-0, until the bottom of the 9th. Knights leadoff batter Brent Lillibridge drew a walk and then advanced to 2nd on David Cook's sacrifice bunt. Michael Restovich then hit a line drive to IronPigs centerfielder Jason Ellison whose throw to catcher Lou Marson was just a second late, as Lillibridge crossed home plate to give the Knights a 1-0 win.
Derek Rodriguez struck out three IronPigs in three innings of work and was followed by Adam Russell who went four innings, then Jhonny Nunez and Randy Williams (2-0, 3.74) who picked the win. Gary Majewski (0-5, 4.33) took the loss for Lehigh Valley.
The second game of the series is a day-game matinee with first pitch at 12:15. Charlotte will send RHP Lucas Harrell (2-1, 3.52) to the mound. Lehigh Valley will counter with RHP Kyle Kendrick (6-5, 3.42).
