Abbotsford Heat News Release

The Abbotsford Heat unveiled their new logo this morning at a corporate breakfast for local business owners. Over 220 business leaders gathered to learn more about Fraser Valley's new AHL franchise at the event hosted by the recently announced head coach of the Heat Jim Playfair.

"Our responsibility as a hockey team is to work hard every night and play a style that gets the fans on their feet. Its non-negotiable and I can ensure you we will be that team," says Playfair.

Heat president Tom Mauthe was on hand to unveil a massive banner sporting the new logo, which was rolled out from the rafters at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Center. The logo, created by local company Domain7, was greeted with positive reactions from the crowd.

Lane Sweeting, owner of the Heat, spoke about the challenges of bringing a professional team to Abbotsford. "When we called the AHL over a year ago they said bringing a team to Abbotsford has not in their strategic plan. We said 'Well, they didn't say no.'"

"This is an exciting time for the community of Abbotsford," added Sweeting. "We are proud to partner with a corporate community that is committed to the Heat franchise."

The puck drops this October. Seasons tickets info can be found at AbbotsfordHeat.com or purchased by calling 1-877-452-HEAT.
