Montreal Impact News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday it would present three friendly international games at Saputo Stadium, featuring the Montreal club, the Haitian National Team and the Syrian National Team.

The first game will be played between Haiti and Syria, Saturday June 27 (3:30 pm). Then, the Impact will match up against the Haitian selection, Wednesday, July 1 (7:30 pm). Finally, Wednesday, July 8 (7:30 pm), the Montreal team will play against the Syrian National Team.

"These three games fit perfectly with our club's philosophy, which includes playing and promoting international games," said President of the Impact and Saputo Stadium Joey Saputo. "These events, presented in collaboration with the various cultural communities of Quebec, will further promote soccer across the province. This is a great occasion to demonstrate our local talent to the Middle Eastern community, as well as to renew our ties with Haitian soccer. We are happy to announce that a portion of the funds raised will be donated to the Haitian community."

The Haitian National Team, currently 122nd in the FIFA world ranking, will participate in the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Montreal match will represent the team's last preparation before its first game against Honduras, on July 4.

"We wish to thank the Impact for having organized these international games," said Dr Yves Jean Bart, President of the Haitian Football Federation. "We are honoured by this invitation, which allows us to revive a long-lived tradition of exchanges between Haitian and Montreal soccer. Various country fellowmen live in this city. They will have the opportunity to appreciate the talent of our selection, which is proud to represent a country that despite facing hardships, wishes to return to its glorious past."

The Syrian National Team, which is 99th in the FIFA world ranking, will take part in a North American tour.

"It is with great pleasure that we confirm our trip to the exciting city of Montreal," said Dr. Ahmad Jabban, President of the Syrian Football Association. "We look forward to playing entertaining football for our many supporters of Arab heritage and for all the knowledgeable Montreal soccer fans."

Tickets for the three games will go on sale Friday at 10 am, through Admission (514-790-1245 / admission.com) or at the ticketing office of Saputo Stadium. Ticket prices will range between $10 and $30 (taxes included). Youth rates for spectators 16 and under, as well as special group rates, will also be offered.
