Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY (May 18, 2009) - The Salt Lake Bees are teaming up with the Utah Commission on Volunteers to honor the state's volunteers tonight, when the team takes the field against the Iowa Cubs at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
American Idol contestant and singer Carmen Rasmusen will sing the national anthem and Lt. Gov. Gary R. Herbert will throw out the first pitch.
"Utah volunteers have much in common with our hometown Salt Lake Bees baseball players," Herbert said. "They are role-models that our youth and our community can look up to."
The mission of the Utah Commission on Volunteers is to improve communities through service and volunteering. For more information or to learn how to get involved, visit the Utah Commission on Volunteers at www.volunteers.utah.gov.
