LONDON, Ont. - John Tavares scored his 50th goal of the season 2:59 into overtime to lift the London Knights to a 2-1 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 9,090 at the John Labatt Center.

Justin Taylor scored the other London goal. The Knights improved to 43-16-1-2 with their third straight win.

Zack Torquato netted the lone Otters goal. Erie dropped to 30-26-3-1 with the OT loss.

The two teams were scoreless after one. Erie led 1-0 after two. Taylor scored 18 seconds into the third to even things up and set the stage for Tavares.

The Otters out shot the Knights 45-38 in the game as Jaroslav Janus took the loss.

The three stars of the game were 1. Tavares; 2. London goalie Trevor Cann and 3. Janus.

The Otters return home for games tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. Tomorrow the Ottawa 67's visit the Tullio Arena for a 7 p.m. start presented by EMTA. The first 1,000 fans into the game will receive a Ryan O'Reilly lithograph penned by Kevin-John Jobczynski. Sunday it's the Otters and the Plymouth Whalers in a special 4:30 p.m.

start at the Tullio Arena presented by Allen Insurance. The first 500 children (12 and under) into the game receive an Otters Autograph Book and a Meet and Greet with the players will follow the game.
