Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Waterloo Black Hawks and Chicago Steel had combined for at least eight goals in every meeting this season; a late surge made it happen again Saturday with Waterloo finishing on top 5-3 at Young Arena.

The Hawks were up 2-0 at the start of the third period. Scott Pavelski found the net at 16:11 of the first period. Jordan Samuels-Thomas added to the lead on the power play at 15:44 of the second.

Just 54 seconds into the third, Michael Fink lifted a puck into the top corner of the net. Chicago rallied for the next two scores by Armand Deswardt at 7:50 and Max Nicastro at 10:09. The Hawks stemmed the rally with two goals in 32 seconds. First, Ben Miller flipped in a puck at 15:20, then Nick Larson scored in the same minute on the power play. Alex Krushelnyski pushed the total to eight, putting a loose puck into the net with 55.4 seconds remaining.

The Black Hawks will travel to Des Moines Friday, then return home to host Sioux Falls Saturday.
