Alexandria Aces News Release

Alexandria, LA; October 1, 2008- The Alexandria Aces of United League Baseball (ULB) announced today that LHP Chad Linder had his contract purchased by the Detroit Tigers and will be assigned to their Class "A" Midwest League affiliate, the West Michigan Whitecaps. He is the sixth Aces player to be signed by a Major League organization since the ULB's inaugural season in 2006.

Linder, a six-foot-two lefthander from Tyler, TX, began his professional career in 2007 with the River City Rascals of the independent Frontier League, where he posted a 3-3 record and a 5.03 ERA. In his first season with the Aces, Chad compiled a 7-3 record with a 4.15 ERA in 17 starts. A 2008 ULB All Star selection, Linder finished the season ranking in the league's top 10 in ERA (sixth), strikeouts (110; third) and innings pitched (112.2; third).

"We are ecstatic about Linder's contract purchase," ULB President Craig Brasfield said. "Chad is a tremendous talent and was one of the best pitchers in our league this past season. Give credit to our field managers for finding such strong players to fill the rosters in our league. We wish Chad and the Tigers the very best."

Linder becomes the 27th player in the history of United League Baseball to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization.
