
Lakeland Flying Tiger Ryan Strieby Ties Franchise Home Run Record

Lakeland, FL -Lakeland Flying Tigers first baseman, Ryan Strieby tied the Lakeland single season home run record when he launched his 24th home run of the season on Friday, August 1st against the Sarasota Reds. Strieby is now tied with Alejandro Freire who hit 24 home runs in 1997.
Strieby, the Tigers 4th round pick in the June 2006 draft, was named a Florida State League All-Star in June 2008. The University of Kentucky product is tied for the league lead in home runs (24), RBIs (82), and fielding percentage (.993) among first baseman. He is also third in slugging percentage (.526) and extra base hits (45). The 6-5 235 lbs. slugger leads the Flying Tigers with 102 games played and 101 hits. He is currently second on the team with 16 doubles, 5 triples, 44 walks, and 55 runs. Baseball America named Strieby the 28th best prospect in the Tigers organization following the 2007 season.
Strieby has the opportunity to surpass Freire tonight against the Sarasota Reds in Sarasota. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
The Flying Tigers next home game is on Tuesday, August 5th against the Clearwater Threshers. Tuesday is Baseball Wingo Night, which means fans have the opportunity to play bingo throughout the game to win prizes from Hooters and the Flying Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets are $6 for box seats or $5 for reserved seats. All seniors (55 and over) and children (14 and under) receive a $1 discount. Parking is free.
