Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Southaven, Mississippi) - New Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski met local media and members of the team's fan base for the first time today (July 10, 2008) at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven.

After thanking the Maddox Foundation, President and Chief Executive Officer Robin Costa, and RiverKings' Director of Business Operations Dave "Ab" Mattice for the opportunity to coach the team, Kaminiski talked about what he'll be looking for in putting together this year's roster.

"We're going to be a team that'll battle for every inch of ice for sixty minutes," Kaminski said. "With today's rules and style of play, you need skilled players to compete. But, we will also provide an exciting, hard-nosed brand of hockey with a team that our fans will enjoy watching."

Stating he's now in his ninth year of coaching, Kaminski said he was excited to be still in the Central Hockey League, and added that he, his family, and his players will also be very involved in the community.

Kaminski comes to the RiverKings from CHL Northeast Division rival Youngstown, where he coached the SteelHounds to a 73-40-15 overall regular season record the past two seasons. Under his leadership, the SteelHounds advanced into the playoffs in both seasons he coached there.

After having seen his teams play Youngstown a lot the past two years, Mattice knows he's getting a coach that'll provide a successful product on the ice. "We believe Kevin's recruiting skills and hockey connections are above average and will bring a winning team to the Mid-South."

Mattice added Kaminski will have full control of building a winning team in Mississippi, with full support from the ownership and front office.

The RiverKings expect to announce their full schedule for the 2008-09 CHL season very soon. For more information on season tickets and partnership opportunities, contact the RiverKings' offices at 662-342-1755.
