2007 Number One MLB Draft Pick to Pitch at Pringles Park

Jackson, Tenn--- The 2007 Number 1 Overall Draft Pick, David Price, is scheduled to pitch Sunday, July 6 at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tennessee. The game, scheduled to start at 4:35p.m. (CST), will be the third of a four game series between the two teams which begins on Friday, July 4.

David Price, a Murfreesboro, Tennessee native, was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays as the number one overall draft pick in 2007 after a three year career at the Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt, Price compiled a 22-10 record with a 3.10 ERA and a school-record 441 strikeouts. He was named Collegiate Baseball's National Co-Player of the Year in 2007, the first Vanderbilt player to receive the award. He was also selected SEC Pitcher of the Year as well as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes (top college player) and Roger Clemens (top college pitcher) awards.

The 22 year-old Price signed with the Rays in June of 2007 with a contract worth $11.25 million. After six starts and a 4-0 record at Vero Beach, Price has climbed to the Double-A ranks joining the Montgomery Biscuits in the Southern League South Division. He is 2-0 in two starts with the Biscuits and is carrying a 1.50 ERA.
