West wins All-Star game

June 17, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1) News Release


MIDLAND - All four Whitecaps on the Midwest League Eastern Division All Star roster saw action in a 5-4, 10- inning win for the Western Division.

Chris Carlson started at first base and drove in the tying run on a ground-out in the third inning. He finished 1-for- Kyle Peter went 0-for-3 and played the final five innings in centerfield.

Alfredo Figaro pitched a scoreless third inning and allowed two hits but no runs. In the fourth, Whitecaps pitcher Jon Kibler allowed Western Division to tie the game with a run on two hits two-thirds of an inning.

The Stars of Stars (MVP) was Clinton's Tim Smith hit the game-winning home run in the top of the tenth. Peoria's Blake Parker pitched the final 1.2 innings for Western Division, struck out four and earned the victory. The Eastern Division used 13 different pitchers.
