Wolf Pack Community Foundation Issues Nearly $21,000 in Grant Funding

HARTFORD, June 13, 2008: The Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation, Inc., at its spring meeting June 4th, approved grant requests totaling $20,800. The funding was awarded to eight different Hartford-area community entities/programs, and the monies were generated at Wolf Pack home games by fans' participation in the Pack's "Chuck-a-Puck" and "Jersey Girl" promotions, as well as a nightly 50/50 raffle.

The grants issued were as follows:

- Channel 3 Kids Camp: $2,500 was donated to help fund ice time and skate rental for campers to enjoy ice skating at the Bolton Ice Palace in Bolton, CT. The mission of the Channel 3 Kids Camp is to provide the best outdoor educational experience for underprivileged youth in Connecticut.

- Riverfront Recapture: $3,000 was granted to help fund Riverfront Recapture's 2008 Summer Youth Employment Program, "Science on the River".

- The Children's Home: $2,400 was granted to assist in funding summer-camp programs for youngsters at The Children's Home. Located in Cromwell, CT, The Children's Home is a residential treatment facility and special education school for abused, neglected and troubled children between eight and eighteen years old.

- Connecticut Youth Leadership Project, Inc.: $2,400 was donated to send two disabled Hartford students to the tenth annual Connecticut Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities.

- Covenant to Care for Children: $2,000 was earmarked to assist Covenant to Care for Children with its mentoring programs for Hartford youth.

- Operation Fuel: $2,000 was granted to help fund energy-assistance grants to low-income individuals and families with children in Hartford County.

- Fox 61 Student News: $3,000 was designated to fund a sponsorship of WTIC-TV Fox 61's Student News. Fox 61 Student News is a program designed to give students real-world experience in broadcast journalism and production.

- CdLS Foundation: $3,500 was granted to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation to assist in sending one Hartford family, whose child was born with CdLS, to a national CdLS conference in Chicago. CdLS is a genetic condition marked by significant intellectual and developmental delays.

The stated mission of the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation is to help fund charitable and non-profit endeavors that offer support to inner-city youth, amateur sport, and promote the health, education and well being of Connecticut's children.
