Chill win streak stopped at eight

June 6, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Edmonton Chill News Release

The Edmonton Chill took their eight-game win streak on the road to Windy City and looked to be headed towards number nine. Unfortunately, they let a 13-point half time lead slip away and then turned over the ball with eight seconds remaining in a tie game that led to a game winning layup for the Soldiers as they took the win 113-111.

Once more the Chill battled foul trouble the whole way with Lee Scruggs fouling out late in the game as the two teams battled back and forth the entire second half after Windy City closed the lead early in the third. In that quarter, the Chill had scored just 14 points with three minutes remaining in the period. Still with the game tied at 111 with 14 seconds left, the Chill had the ball with the game in their hands. After using a timeout to talk it over Rashaun Broadus brought the ball into the front-court and dribbled it down to eight ticks. As he made his move around the right side, he had the ball stripped and Windy City was able to get a layup and a foul with just one second remaining to earn the hard fought win.

Leading the way for the Chill was Stephen Parker with 21, while Rashaun Broadus and Lee Scruggs each chipped in with 15 points. Scruggs was also the leading rebounder with 13.

For the Chill though, there is no time to dwell as they are set to face the two-time defending champion Elkhart Express tomorrow night with the broadcast hopefully beginning at 6:00pm Edmonton time.
