O'Fallon, MO - The talk over section 109 on Wednesday night River City Rascals home games is getting a little nutty...yes pun intended.

Teamed with Gateway FEAST (Food allergy, Eczema, and Asthma Support Team), the Rascals are making the section ‘Peanut-Free' in an effort for families with such allergies to avoid the hazards that peanuts can cause on their health.

With the first Wednesday night home game this past week, the concept has received national attention. Zach Ziler, the Rascals Director of Ticket Sales, appeared on the national Fox News Channel on Thursday morning to discuss the ‘Peanut-Free' policy.

"This is a new idea for us and we're doing our best with our operations staff to make this section totally peanut free," Ziler said in the interview. "We're putting our usher Pete [Vitale] down there and he's our new ‘Peanut Pete', maybe we can get him in a peanut suit with a big ‘X' across it."

Time will tell if ‘Peanut Pete' catches on and if he indeed wears the suit, the idea however is taking off. STLToday.com and columnist Kurt Greenbaum is running a front page blog on the story. Fans can voice their opinions on Greenbaum's blog by following this link.

The Rascals are part of the twelve team Independent Frontier League and are located approximately 30 miles west of downtown St. Louis.
