
28 \'Dogs Grads Still Competing for the Stanley Cup

When the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Playoffs started in the second week of April, 11 of the 16 clubs that qualified for post-season play had at least one Hamilton Bulldogs graduate on their roster. In total, there were 38 ex-'Dogs competing for the Cup in the first round of the NHL playoffs. With the Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals having been eliminated in the conference quarter-finals, the season's of 10 of those 38 players came to an end. Currently, there are 28 Hamilton Bulldogs graduates still competing for the Stanley Cup as a member of the Dallas Stars (6), Detroit Red Wings (1), Montreal Canadiens (16), Philadelphia Flyers (1), Pittsburgh Penguins (3) and San Jose Sharks (2). Included on the long list of former Hamilton Bulldogs that continue to play in the NHL's post-season are Montreal forward Sergei Kostitsyn, who is the rookie scoring leader in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with eight points, and Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, who is the playoff leader in shutouts with two.
