Chill Send Four Players Home, One To The DL

April 17, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Edmonton Chill News Release

Following Sunday night's practice the Edmonton Chill cut four players from the training camp roster leaving them with nine players under contract, with four players still to come to town. They also placed one player on the disabled list.

Head Coach Paul Sir, along with his assistants Clayton Pottinger and Todd Warnick, released Xavier Powell, Joel Allen, Paul Kuperus, and Greg Fourineau. "I want to thank all of the guys for their hard work this winter during our free-agent camps, and this week, but it was clear that they just were not quite ready for the IBL," Coach Sir said. Owner and President Troy Barns echoed those sentiments and went on to say, "We do hope that these guys continue to work on their games and can be part of the foundation for a local pipeline of top basketball talent."

The club also announced that former Duke Blue Devil Sean Dockery was hurt during game action and will be out until late May. The team plans to let Sean rehab at his own pace at home in Chicago, but they expect him to be ready to join the team on their road trip to the Chicago, and then to finish the season with the Chill. Asst. GM Nick Padow said, "Thankfully we have a lot of depth at the point spot with Rashaun [Broadus] and Phil [Scherer], so we can wait until Sean is 100% ready to go. Then when he joins us, it will just expand Coach Sir's options at both guard positions.
