*Diamond Jaxx Take Two in Jacksonville*

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx began the 2008 season on the road in Jacksonville, Florida with a five game set versus the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Opening Day, April 3rd, Jacksonville scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning as they went on to defeat West Tenn 6-3. Adam Moore homered and drove in two runs while Shawn Garrett had two hits and a RBI to lead the Diamond Jaxx six hit attack.

The Diamond Jaxx bounced back to pick up their first win of the 2008 season with a 6-1 victory over the Suns on Friday, April 4th. Rich Dorman allowed an unearned run on one hit over six innings of work to lead the Diamond Jaxx to the win. Dorman, who walked one and struckout five, retired the last fourteen batters he faced. Brodie Downs pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to notch his first save of the season. Offensively, the Diamond Jaxx were led by Luis Oliveros and Prentice Redman, who had two hits each in the win. Oliveros, Ronnie Prettyman and Shawn Garrett drove in a run each to pace the Diamond Jaxx attack.

Rain postponed game three of the series, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 5th, so the Diamond Jaxx and Suns played two on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Suns swept the doubleheader from the Diamond Jaxx on Sunday winning the first game 4-3 and taking the nightcap 2-1.

In the opener, Jacksonville snapped a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to pick up the win. Justin Thomas suffered the loss. He allowed three runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. Luis Valbuena and Marshall Hubbard had one hit and one RBI each to pace the Diamond Jaxx attack.

In the nightcap, Bobby Malek broke a 1-1 tie with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th inning as the Suns went on for the 2-1 win. Marwin Vega suffered the loss in his first appearance of the season. Luis Oliveros had two hits to pace the Diamond Jaxx four hit attack. All four hits in the nightcap were doubles.

In the last game of the series on Monday, April 7th, Marshall Hubbard collected five RBI, including a three-run triple and two-run homerun, pacing the Diamond Jaxx to a 12-4 victory. Travis Chick collected the win; however, Ryan Ketchner started the game for West Tenn, his first start in the Southern League since starting for the Jacksonville Suns in 2004.

The Diamond Jaxx scored eight runs off of four hits in the fourth inning. West Tenn ended the scoring in the eighth inning as Mike Saunders doubled home two runs off of reliever Rick Asadoorian.

The Diamond Jaxx have returned to West Tennessee and will look to keep the offense going in their 2008 opening homestand beginning Wednesday, April 9th at Pringles Park. If you can't make it to the ballpark, you can catch all of the action on NewsTalk 101.5FM or online at www.diamondjaxx.com.
