
Generals earn A in school beat Fury 4-2 in school day game

FLINT, MI - You couldn't have asked for a better first Flint Generals School Day game. More than 3,300 happy Flint area school children and a victory by the hometown Gens as they beat the Musekgon Fury 4-2 to move into sole possession of third place in the International Hockey League Turner Cup Playoff fight.
It was the fourth school day game the Generals have participated in this season and they conclude with a mark of 2-1-0-1. It was also the second time they have faced the Fury in a morning game, while the other two were in Kalamazoo. The game was the first of four games in five nights for the club.
The Generals came out fired up in the opening 20 minutes, launching 20 shots on goal and led 2-0. Jason Cirone notched the first marker when he scored on a scramble in front of the net. Michel Beausoleil and Nick Tuzzolino earned assists on the goal.
Josef Fojtik capped off a great 2 on 1 effort when Michel Beausoleil set him up on a one-timer. Mike Alexiou added an assist on the goal.
However, early in the second period Muskegon battled back to tie with two goals in the first 2:30 including one on the power play. The Fury had other chances via the power play but were denied on terrific Gens penalty killing.
The difference in the game was the last two minutes of the middle stanza when the Gens scored two goals eight seconds apart. First Beausoleil on a terrific move into the Fury zone and his shot found the back of the net. Jared Dumba and Brock Wilson notched assists on the goal.
It was then Justin DePretis who picked up a big goal when his sharp-angled shot when off of goaltender Clayton Pool and into the net. Jason Cirone and Nick Tuzzolino earned assists on the goal.
In the third period was all defense and the goaltending of Eric Marvin who kept the Gens ahead with some great saves.

Hockey is back at Perani Arena and Event Center this Sunday when the Generals host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at a special start time of 4 pm.
