Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- Dodd Stadium once again becomes a one stop destination for fans. The Defenders announced today that every Thursday, including Opening Day will feature an All-You-Can-Eat package new for the 2008 season sponsored by Courant ValuMail the leading direct mail company in Connecticut.

"We are very happy to partner with a quality organization like the Connecticut Defenders, and we are very excited to sponsor a great addition to Dodd Stadium's Thursday All-You-Can-Eat Special," said Director of Sales William McMinn.

Each Thursday Defenders home game (10 in total), fans will have another thing on their mind besides baseball and that's what to eat next. The ValuMail All-You-Can-Eat package includes sodas, hot beverages, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pretzels, and popcorn, along with a ticket to the game. Packages are only $15 for adults and $12 for kids (12 & under). Season passes are available for all ten Thursday games for only $125 per adult and $100 per kid. Fans will receive unique bracelets upon entering the ballpark and will have access to their own third base concession stand. Food will start being served when the gates open and run all the way through the end of the seventh inning - more than enough time to indulge!

"As we strive to continue to provide value for our fans, we feel this will accomplish another request for our patrons" said Defenders General Manager Charlie Dowd.

To help introduce this great money saving package, Professional Speed Eater, Ed "Cookie" Jarvis will be adding to the Opening Day festivities, showcasing his incredible eating abilities. Jarvis captured 30 eating titles from 2001-06 including Nathan's Famous French Fry Eating Contest in 2005 where "Cookie" tackled 4.46 pounds of the famous krinkle cut fries in six minutes. One lucky fan will get to compete against Cookie in a one minute eating contest. Jarvis will be signing autographs and posing for photos throughout the game courtesy of Courant ValuMail.

"I like promoting events like this but the fans are truly the base of my excitement," said Cookie Jarvis. "I'm looking forward to meeting and greeting with the fans on what should be a great day".

The Defenders kick-off the 2008 season at Thomas J. Dodd Stadium on Thursday, April 3rd against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:35 p.m. For tickets or more information call the Defenders front office at (860) 887-7962 or at ctdefenders.com.
