Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

Atlanta, GA-The Atlanta Silverbacks signed midfielder/defender Josh Bolton for the 2008 season.

Bolton, 24, joins the Silverbacks after two seasons under contract with the Rochester Raging Rhinos.

"Josh is a big strong player who can play both in the central midfield or in the back," said Silverbacks head coach Jason Smith. "We knew he would fit in with our team from his performance against us in the past two seasons."

In two seasons with Rochester Bolton made 18 appearances, 14 in 2007, logging 560 minutes, and four appearances in 2006, his rookie year, seeing 263 minutes of playing time. His first start as a professional came August 5, a 1-0 win over the Silverbacks. In 2007 Bolton went on loan to USL2 Harrisburg City Islanders for two games, and in 2006 he played one game on loan for the USL2 Wilmington Hammerheads. A two-time All American at Williams College, Bolton also garnered NESCAC Player of the year honors in 2004 and 2005, and in 2005 played 16 games for the PDL Albany Admirals.

"I know from playing against them the Silverbacks are a really good team," Bolton said. "I just hope I can contribute."
